COMPUTER CODING - BEFORE YOUR GRANDCHILDREN DO!

Writing software is the closest you get to creating tangible objects - computer Apps – from pure ideas. The creation can be as simple as you like or it can be highly complex. The course will teach you simple coding practices, applicable to all modern computer languages, in an easy to use visual environment – Microsoft’s Visual Studio Software Development Environment to take an idea into reality.

The software you create will impress your grandchildren and possibly the rest of the family too!

Requirements: A personal computer laptop or notebook running Windows Version 7, 8, or 10.  All software & ideas for projects will be provided free of charge.

MAH JONG CLUB

Ideal for anyone who has, or wants to develop an interest or a passion for this ancient game of strategies, probabilities and luck. Beginners and more experienced players are welcome to join in.

The aim for 2017 is to complete what could otherwise become The Never Ending Story! After all it is supposed to be a memoir! GROUP CLOSED. Friday’s Memoir Writing 2 class welcomes new participants.

This course blends yoga with other forms of physical activity to help us combat ageing. We flex the joints, stretch the muscles and improve coordination. Limited to 24 members and suited to people who are able to attend on a regular basis. Requirements: a yoga mat and a water bottle.

GARDEN CLUB

After gardening at home it is great to sit and chat with others about it all. There is always something happening in our gardens to share, and new and old gardening tips to pass around. Our group watches DVD's to see how it's done, swaps plants and produce.  We occasionally visit gardens.

DISCOVERING NEW WORLDS

This course will explore the study of planets beyond our solar system, or exoplanets. Recent advances in technology have led to the discovery of thousands of these distant planets, and initial research indicates that there must be countless others. This course will occupy all of term 2 and will provide a comprehensive introduction to this 20 year old science.

Through this new scientific venture we hope to discover other planets that are very similar to Earth and the likelihood of life on any of these planets.

Polar Explorations created in collaboration with National Geographic, takes you on a journey with a 360-degree view of the Arctic and Antarctica in 22 visually stunning lectures. A travelogue, science class, and history lesson rolled into one with insights into: geology, astronomy, zoology, oceanography, history, culture, and photographing unique subjects.

This group is for active walkers wishing to explore South Gippsland . Walking time will be generally of 2 hours duration, followed by lunch when possible. Some walks might require driving for 30 mins before starting the walk; we can car pool for the journey and routes will be negotiated with group members.

Utilising a Great Course DVD (video), this course in 36 sessions will use individual lives to explain a great historical transformation. Sounds easy but is not. How and why did what we call the modern world come about? Why did it start in the Europe of lord and serf in the 18th C and end in the world of boss and worker by 1914? Class size limited to 18 persons.

Thai Chi originated as a Chinese Martial Art and apparently was great training for wrestlers. However, it has evolved over the years and is has become popular as a low stress form of exercise for seniors. Mary will lead this class with the assistance of a dvd. Because of the location the class size is limited to 10.
